Balisong Media is an independent entertainment company creating original comics, children’s books, educational resources, collectibles, and future multimedia experiences inspired by Filipino history, mythology, folklore, culture, and values.
We believe representation should do more
than place familiar faces on a page.
It should help people recognize
that their stories matter.
That their history belongs in the center of the frame.
That their culture can inspire extraordinary worlds.
And that the next great hero might look like them.
I grew up loving superheroes.
I believed in what they represented: courage,
sacrifice, hope, responsibility, and the idea that
one person could make a difference.
But I rarely saw Filipino people, families,
history, mythology, humor, or values reflected
in the stories that inspired me.
Balisong Media was created to help change that.
Not by placing Filipino characters into
borrowed worlds, but by building an
original universe rooted in who we are.
The Heroes of Balisong are love letters to the Philippines—its people, landscapes, traditions, creativity, resilience, and extraordinary spirit.
But these stories are also invitations.
You do not have to be Filipino to enter this world.
You only need to believe that courage, compassion, loyalty, hope, wonder, remembrance, resilience,
and redemption still matter.
The balisong is one of the most recognizable
symbols of Filipino craftsmanship.
Its strength does not come from a single piece.
It comes from separate elements designed to move together with precision, balance,
discipline, and purpose.
That idea reflects the heart of our heroes.
They come from different eras, regions, backgrounds, and experiences. Each carries unique strengths, wounds, beliefs, and responsibilities.
Alone, they are powerful.
Together, they become something greater.
For us, the balisong is not a symbol of violence.
It is a symbol of ingenuity, transformation, unity,
and Filipino craftsmanship.
Balisong Media exists to promote Filipino culture and community across the world in an uplifting, inspirational, and transformative way.
Through storytelling, art, education,
and entertainment, we aim to:
We are building more than a comic-book company.
We are building a world of stories that can grow
across comics, books, animation, games, toys, education, and experiences.
